    • As you may be aware, John Root, the Executive Director of Auxiliary Services, has announced his retirement. In light of this transition, we have taken the opportunity to reevaluate the structure of the Transportation Services department to ensure that we continue to operate efficiently and effectively. After careful consideration, the decision to restructure the department into two different teams has been made to optimize its functions and better align the teams' efforts with the broader objectives of the institution.

Transportation Services consists of two primary functions: Shuttle Services and Parking Services. The components handling parking permits and enforcement within Parking Services will transition to the University Police Department (UPD), including garages, "welcome booths,"  as well as the Nite Cats and Bicycle Programs. The remaining aspects of Parking Services concerning parking garages and lot maintenance and repair will be reassigned to Facilities. All aspects of Shuttle Services, including the contracted bus service, will also be transferred to Facilities and consolidated with other fleet management responsibilities currently under Facilities.

We believe this restructuring will enable each team to concentrate on specific areas of expertise, fostering greater specialization and efficiency. Integrating Parking Services with UPD presents a compelling opportunity to establish a more holistic and service-oriented approach to campus parking and security.

We will dedicate the coming months prior to John’s retirement to working through many details to ensure a smooth transition. Rest assured, we are committed to supporting all team members throughout this transition. We understand that change can be challenging, and we are here to address any questions or concerns you may have. Please feel free to contact Human Resources with any immediate concerns or feedback.

Thank you for your continued dedication and hard work. We are confident that this restructuring will position us for success in the future.

      Best regards,

      Eric Algoe
